Anna-Marie was born and raised in Asheville, NC as the third oldest of eight children and strongly believes in “People First”. After graduating from Asheville High she joined AmeriCorps Project POWER in 2008 and served as a 5th grade teacher’s assistant at Jones Elementary School and as a Pisgah View Learning Center Coordinator through Children First. Following her AmeriCorp experience, Anna enrolled in the Green Opportunities job training program as a student and later became an instructor in that program and within 1 ½ years became the Recruitment and Support Coordinator over all Green Opportunities training programs. Anna is one of the 2017 recipients of the Top 40 Under Forty Award for the Greater Asheville Area.
Anna Smith currently serves as a Certified Financial & Housing Counselor and Educator with OnTrack WNC Financial Education and Counseling, where she’s grown to love the idea of learning how to manage money, improve credit and buy a home. As an educator, Anna is passionate about share knowledge with all people but specifically to those who are historically excluded or disenfranchised. As a counselor, Anna is devoted to taking her time with people while the share their goals, barriers and successes towards the next steps in their money lives.
In her free time, Anna enjoys spending time with people; friends and family, strangers and clients, over good conversations and stories. Sharing stories is a passion daily for Anna and she hopes to one day open a space where all people can enjoy to share their stories.
